Personal Profile

About Me
Hello, and welcome. I’m a lifelong woodworker with a passion that began at sixteen, when I left school with minimal qualifications but was fortunate enough to secure an apprenticeship with a local family-run joinery firm. While working in the shop, I attended college one day and two evenings a week, achieving near top marks in City & Guilds Carpentry and Joinery qualifications. That experience sparked a love of the craft that has stayed with me ever since.
Over the years, I have developed extensive skills in bespoke joinery—crafting doors, windows, staircases, cabinets, and bespoke pieces from softwood, hardwood, and manmade materials. My journey has taken me through traditional joinery shops, housing maintenance roles with local councils, and eventually into teaching.
The latter first began when I delivered Carpentry and Joinery at City & Guilds level, giving me a taste for education that later led me to study BA Design Technology at Middlesex University. I qualified as a teacher in 2000 and went on to build a successful career in education, earning a MA in Management in Eduction degree and becoming Deputy Headteacher at a Pupil Referral Unit. Along the way, my wife Helen and I raised three daughters and became a fostering family after relocating to Hampshire.
Yet throughout all these chapters—whether working on the tools, running my own business, or teaching in classrooms—I’ve always been a joiner at heart.
Today
Now retired from full-time education, I’ve returned to where it all began: working with wood. My focus is on creating bespoke joinery and sharing my passion with others. Whether you’re interested in commissioning a piece, learning new skills, or simply exploring the world of woodwork, I’m here to inspire, guide, and help bring ideas to life.
Thank you for visiting—I look forward to connecting with you.
